CPR members and partners testified at the New York City Council FY25 Preliminary Budget Hearing on Public Safety.

On March 20th, 2024 CPR members and partners testified at the New York City Council FY25 Preliminary Budget Hearing on Public Safety. Despite proposed cuts to essential services such as libraries, education, and community development programs, the NYPD's FY25 preliminary agency budget surpasses $300M more than what was initially proposed last year. This pattern of overspending by the NYPD, exemplified by nearly $1B over-expenditure in FY23 alone, is unacceptable and exacerbates existing issues of violence, obstruction, and misinformation within the department.
