Families of NYers killed by the NYPD are outraged by the NYPD’s plan to equip its officers with guns that have sensitive triggers that are easier to fire. This will not increase safety for New Yorkers or help the NYPD uphold the law. All it will do is make it easier for officers to play the role of judge, jury and executioner. This decision was also made without input from families of NYers killed by the NYPD, other police reform advocates, or the NYC public. In the interest of public safety, the families are calling on Mayor de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Shea to immediately halt the use of these new firearms, which the NYPD has decided to first put in the hands of its newest recruits.
Join the Families on Tuesday, November 16 to demand Mayor de Blasio put a stop to the NYPD's plan to use the new easier-to-shoot guns.
Please join us on November 10th at 6:30 PM for a meeting where we will discuss our campaign to disband the NYPD's notoriously violent Strategic Response Group (SRG).
Tune into The City's discussion series, this event asks Can the NYPD Save Itself from Itself Under a New Administration? On the virtual panel to answer the topic question is CPR spokesperson Mark Winston Griffith.
On Oct. 9th, 1 pm at Fulton Park Plaza, CPR member Brooklyn Movement Center proudly presents in collaboration with Theatre of the Oppressed, “I LIVE HERE TOO”. This interactive play asks “What does it take to hold each other down?” Inspired by the shared experiences of Central Brooklyn tenants looking to rebuild community safety and unity despite landlord neglect, gentrification, and police occupation.
Join the families (Fams) of New Yorkers killed by NYPD this Thurs. 10/7 at 7 pm as they speak out against the NYPD equipping rookie cops with easier-to-kill guns. Deadlier guns will only make our communities less safe from police violence! RSVP here: http://bit.ly/NoNewNYPDGuns
Join CPR member New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) as they spread the word about anti-LGBTQ Hate Violence happening across NYC and educate folks on their rights and opportunities to support, learn and join in the work of peace and progress.
