CPR launches petition by Talib Kweli in support of ending racial profiling by police in NYC and Council bill

Communities United for Police reform has launched a petition by hip hop star Talib Kweli calling on Mayor Bloomberg to end his opposition to the Community Safety Act which would create a strong and enforceable ban on racial profiling. In the petition, which went out to thousands of MoveOn.org members, Kweli pointed to the tragic killing of Trayvon Martin as an example of the “dangers of racial profiling.” It further stated that “Bloomberg just doesn’t seem to get it,” citing his opposition to the legislation to end racial profiling in New York City, “divisive and inaccurate statements” and “fearmongering.” Sign the petition here, and share with your friends, family and colleagues!
