Take Action for #NYCBudgetJustice

Billy Porter, Mark Ruffalo, John Leguizamo, Tituss Burgess, Claude Copeland, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kathy Najimy, Fisher Stevens, and frontline activists call on Mayor de Blasio and City Council to cut at least $1B from NYPD budget & redirect funds to Black, Latinx & other communities of color.

Hello, my name is ________ . [If you live in the district, identify yourself as a constituent.]

I read in the news that Mayor de Blasio may cut 22,000 New York city jobs which would be devastating. With just days left until the NYC fiscal year 2021 budget has to be approved, you must act now!

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers have taken to the streets with one unrelenting demand, Defund NYPD; currently, hundreds occupy City Hall, with the same call. Cutting at least $1 billion DIRECTLY from the NYPD’s expense budget will automatically yield additional savings from other City budget areas, including fringe and pensions that should be redirected to support communities most devasted by COVID-19. Moving cops from the NYPD to other agencies will not decrease police violence or yield any money that can help New Yorkers such as myself thrive.

Can I count on you to fight and not approve a budget unless it cuts the NYPD's FY21 budget by at least $1 billion dollars this year - with all related savings to be redirected to key programs, services in infrastructure in Black, Latinx and other communities of color that have been most devastated by COVID-19 and police violence?
